Enabling a Short-Lived IP Protocol Filter

Overview

If you enable a filter for a short-lived IP protocol, the switch uses the slow path to route packets of the protocol. For information about the slow path, see "Routing Overview" in Chapter 1:Introduction.

By default a filter is enabled for DNS and NTP packets. To route the packets of other short-lived protocols by means of the slow path, you must enable a filter for the protocol.
