Use this screen to activate or block file transfer protocol anonymous (FTP) service on the Avaya media server. This allows an FTP application that is run on another computer or server to transfer files (put or get them) to or from the Avaya media server.
Typical files to transfer include new license or authentication files, software upgrades, system announcements, or keys.install files that may be used with network time servers.
Caution:
To keep your Avaya server secure, always disable FTP service between sessions
when your file transfers are complete. This prevents unauthorized users
from transferring files to or from the Avaya media server using FTP.
To enable or disable anonymous FTP service on your Avaya media server:
In the main menu under Security, click Enable/Disable Anonymous FTP.
The Enable/Disable Anonymous FTP screen shows the current state of FTP service: enabled or disabled. Normally FTP service is disabled between sessions.
If service is enabled and you need to transfer files, continue to Step 5. Otherwise, secure the server against potentially unauthorized files transfers as follows:
Click Disable to deactivate FTP service on the Avaya media server.
The screen shows a new status of disabled. Continue your administration activities as needed.
If service is disabled and you need to transfer files:
Click Enable to activate FTP service on the Avaya media server.
The screen shows a new status of enabled.
On the computer or server that contains the files to copy, transfer files to the Avaya server as follows (see Transfer files using FTP for details):
Open an FTP application on your computer (either run FTP or open a GUI FTP application).
Log in as anonymous, with your email address as your password.
Set mode to binary.
Put the correct files on the Avaya media server.
Files are copied to the server's FTP directory. When finished, close the FTP application.
When file transfer is complete, click on the media server web interface window to access the Enable/Disable Anonymous FTP screen again.
Click Disable to deactivate FTP service. FTP file transfers to the server are blocked until FTP service is enabled again.
