Check AC Power

Each media gateway uses an auto-ranging (85 to 264 volts AC) power supply, 47 to 63 hertz, 330 watts, 4.5 amps (100 to120 volts AC) or 2.3 amps (200 to 240 volts AC), at 500 volt-amps.

The AC power source can be 1 phase of 120 volts AC with neutral (100 volts AC for Japan) with 15-amp circuit breaker, or 1 phase of 220 or 240 volts AC (200 volts AC for Japan) with 10-amp circuit breaker. The AC cord uses a NEMA 5-15P plug or an IEC 320 plug.

Before powering up the system, check the AC power in the equipment room using a KS-20599 digital voltmeter (DVM) (or equivalent).

To check AC power:

  1. Measure the AC voltage between the hot and neutral sides of the receptacle.
  2. Depending on the AC power source, verify that the meter reads 90 to 132 volts AC or 180 to 264 volts AC. If not, have a qualified electrician correct the problem.
  3. Measure the voltage between the neutral and ground sides of the receptacle.
  4. Verify that the meter reads 0 volts AC. If not, have a qualified electrician correct the problem.
  5. When finished, set the AC main circuit breakers to OFF.
