The screens in this section are used to set up and enable or disable services that interact with devices on the corporate local area network (LAN) interface. These screens are used:
at initial installation, to set up network services and authorized access for a new Avaya media server
for ongoing administration, as when new features or capabilities (such as extra ports) are added to a system in service
on an as-needed basis (for example, to start or stop FTP service on the Avaya media server as needed)
Network administration and security tasks include:
Set up SNMP service (optional per site)
Enable or disable Ethernet switch ports (busy-out unused interfaces to prevent unauthorized access)
Enable or disable the modem (used for alarm reporting and dial-in access on each server)
Set LAN security (enable or disable networking services for the server's corporate LAN interface)
Start or stop the FTP server (enable or disable file transfers to the Avaya media server)
Install license and authentication files as needed (provide authorized access to the server and its features)
