Use this screen to interchange the active and standby servers. This procedure makes the server that is currently active the standby server, and vice versa.
Some transient (non-stable) calls may be dropped when
you interchange the servers.
Typically you take an active server out of service temporarily to complete repairs or to upgrade the server software. To minimize the effect on call-processing service, you would first interchange the active server with the standby server. You would then busy out the standby server (formerly the active one) in order to complete your repairs or software upgrade.
To interchange the active and standby servers:
On the main menu under Server, click Interchange Servers.
For information about the fields in the Interchange Servers screen, see Server field definitions.
On the Interchange Servers screen, interchange the servers using one of the following methods:
Click the Interchange button. Use this method to perform a standard interchange. When you click Interchange, file synchronizations are allowed to complete before the interchange proceeds. If a request has been made that would result in calls being dropped, the request is denied.
Click the Force interchange regardless of server status check box, and then click the Interchange button. Use this method to override the safety feature offered with the standard interchange. When you use this method, the interchange occurs immediately. The system does not wait for the standby server to be refreshed or file synchronization to complete before performing the interchange.
Using this method to interchange the servers is potentially
hazardous. Data might be lost and call processing interrupted. Use this
method only under special circumstances. For example, you might use this
method when you need to interchange the servers before the standby server
is refreshed. You might also use this method if the active server absolutely
must be taken down, even if the standby server has a minor problem.
The Interchange Servers results screen shows the success or failure of the interchange request.
