Use this screen when you need to halt a server. The shutdown procedure brings the server down safely. You can shut the server down either immediately or at a later time, and you can shut the server down so that it will reboot after the shutdown.
To shut down a server:
On the main menu under Server, click Shutdown This Server.
For information about the fields in the Shutdown This Server screen, see Server field definitions.
On the Shutdown This Server screen, choose one of the following options:
Delayed. When you choose this option (the default), the system notifies all processes that the server will be shut down. The system then waits for the processes to close files and perform other clean-up activities before it shuts the server down.
Immediate. When you choose this option, the system does not wait for processes that are running to terminate normally before it shuts the server down. Data may be lost.
If you want the server to reboot after the shutdown, click the check box next to After shutdown, restart system.
Click Shutdown.
The Shutdown This Server results screen indicates that a shutdown has begun.
