Server time features include:

Caution:
If synchronization with an external time source is enabled, do not use this screen to adjust the time after the server is in operation. Time changes greater than 15 minutes will disrupt the synchronization with the NTS and NTP will shut down.

The MultiVantage software relies on the time of day setting for many system functions, including:

Out-of-sync timing messages are ignored, so an outsider cannot easily reset the media server's clock by sending it a wildly inaccurate time.

Set server time procedure

To set or adjust the Avaya media server's clock:

  1.  In the main menu under Server, click the Set Server Time/Timezone link.  The Set Server Time / Timezone screen appears.

Caution:
The current time is displayed near the top of the screen.  If an Avaya media server is synchronizing its time with a Network Time Server (NTS) external time source, you only set the time during initial configuration in order to bring the media server's time close enough to the NTS's time so that synchronization can occur (within about 5 minutes). Do not use this screen to adjust the time after the server is in operation; time changes greater than 15 minutes will disrupt the synchronization with the NTS. See Configure Network Time Server for details.

  1. To adjust the system time:

If you reset the time zone, the call-processing software needs to be restarted. See Shutdown This Server.

  1.  When all the settings look correct, click Submit. The Set Server Time/Timezone results screen appears.
