cms wtmpx

reduce the size of wtmpx file,but it seems increasing and occupy the filesystem space .please suggest solution .

We can keep files in optional list while taking the backup.

I will sugegst to open SR with Avaya Support team so that we can look into the issue.

can you help me understand what is the wtmpx file purpose?
would you suggets how we keep the files in optional list?because,adm script running directly.where do we give this restriction?

Wtmpx file is created in /tmp. It contains information about the sessions created by each login id on OS.

It is not use for proper functioning of CMS.

Regarding optional list, I will suggest to involve Avaya Support team as edits are needed in backup script. If something else is done, it may be corrupted.

Is wtmpx created in /var/adm and /tmp the same ?( asking becoz i deleted wtmpx.123 files created in /tmp but adm failing showing huge wtmpx file in /var/adm .

Hi cc12,
We can remove old wtmpx files the reason behind this is that wtmpx file contain the action performed by user.
Suppose a user logged in Primary CMS and from shell of Primary he ssh to HA-CMS,
If you open wtmpx file you can see that transaction which happen between Primary and HA.
