Default 1140E Display not functioning properly

I have 2 Nortel 1140E IP phones and 1 has absolutely no display at all and the other will only display something after I press the 'Services' button 2x and even then it is hard to read. My question is is this a known issue from a hardware failure or is there some form of software fix?

Any help is appreciated.
