Okay, I may be making this too complicated (I've been accused before), but I am trying to understand how the "broadcast message" works.
First of all, we're on an Intuity Audix running R5.0-63 (circa 1995). It's been running like a champ all these years. The original admin is no longer here, and we've taken a few things for granted...until last week. Our broadcast message facility has been working, with one little quirk - the message never expires. A user who listens to a broadcast never gets it again, but anytime we add a new sub, they get all 18 broadcast messages that are 'out there'. This is where I am confused - I've looked for them, but could never find them. The thing is, the vmbox that we log into to send a broadcast is not the broadcast mailbox; it's set-up as a bulletin board. So I've been poking around and found another box setup as the broadcast box. It had incoming broadcast messages - I thought 'AhHa - there they are!', so I deleted them. Now I add a new sub, and I still get flags that there are 18 broadcast messages, but if I listen to them I get 'Message has been deleted'. I know your curiosity is peaked...and your saying 'You can't have that many stored broadcast messages', and you'd be right! I tried last week, and got the response 'Mailbox is Full'. So here I am...dazed and confused (and can't send a broadcast message). Can anybody lend some advice/knowledge? Thanks! |

Something just clicked...I noticed under system-parameters where the broadcast mailbox is defined, so now I understand the broadcast functionality.
But I am still confused as to why these message references are not going away... |
