IP Office and MS Exchange Server 365

We are in the process of having an IP Office Release 8.1 installed. The installation tech says that IP Office will not connect to MS Exchange if it is in the cloud, thus making meeting me conferencing through email not possible, Power Users not have access to email on the client, and any other feature that uses email, such as voice mail to email not possible. I find this very hard to believe that with a system as old as IP Office that it will not connect to Exchange Server that is not on site. Can someone, hopefully from Avaya please tell me how to connect IPO and Exchange Server 365. I am to the point of having the system ripped out and replaced with something else. These features were a big part of buying the product.

It can probably be done. If you have Voicemail Pro installed on a Windows computer you can install an MAPI client like Outlook on the same computer and you can configure Voicemail Pro to use the MAPI client to send the voicemail to email, emails. Outlook can be configured to send to MS365 if you google it you should find instructions how.

If you are using UMS you can make a connection directly to the UMS server so it by-passes the 365 server entirely.

If you are using the Embedded voicemail it only uses SMTP to send emails. It can probably be done using an email proxy to releay the messages to the 365 server but it would be too complicated to explain here.

Were to ever able to figure out a resolution to this issue. We are considering IP Office and have run into same question.

The answer is yes you should be able to send emails using a MAPI client installed on the Voicemail Pro PC server. An example of a MAPI client would be Outlook. Instead of using SMTP to send the email you change the option in the Voicemail Pro configuration to use the MAPI client (Outlook) to send the email instead.
