Default 9611g manufacturer support

I have a question regarding Avaya's manufacturer support on the 9611g phone. I understand they released an end of sale on the non global version and released a global version that would be supported. I chatted with an avaya tech and from what they are telling me all versions of the 9611g will only have manufacturer support until October 6, 2017. If this is indeed true then what replaces the 9611g? All i'm looking for is a phone that will get product updates past october 6, 2017 and is equivalent to the 9611g.

Your "Avaya tech" is misinformed. The 9611G continues to be sold, supported, and new software functionality added.

The end of sale notification regarding the non-global version eludes to the fact that the 9611g (non-global and global version) will be end of manufacturer support for software October 6, 2017. Take a look: https://downloads.avaya.com/css/P8/documents/100179841

That EoS is entirely about the non-global version being replaced by the global version and the dates all refer to that process from the perspective of the non-global model.
