Hey Members,
we're looking for a way to use a usb flash drive to install CM. When installing a new S8300 it's normally recommended to use the CDROM drive which is'nt always at hand and btw very slow. Is there any way to have the S8300 mount the flash drive and boot from there just like from cd? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks... |

![]() ● Recommended: Place the CD in the CD-ROM drive on the technician’s laptop. This method requires that the Avaya TFTP Server software (available at support.avaya.com) is installed on the technician’s laptop. In addition, this method requires that the S8300B does not have Communication Manager software installed on its hard drive. or, ● Place the CD in an external USB CD-ROM drive connected to one of the USB ports on the S8300 faceplate. This method works whether or not Communication Manager software is installed on the S8300B hard drive. For more clarification you can alway open a case with Avaya Support. Thanks, A. Kajgikar |

I have used a 'ISOSTICK' USB thumbdrive with the ISO image mounted on it. Just make sure to format the MicroSD card that goes in the usb stick as FAT32.
http://isostick.com/ I have installed System Platform and CM 6.3 using it. A external dvd drive (powered) 16x or 20x is the best. That will speed up the copying of the files, but the install is still slow because the S8300 card is not much faster than my Commodore 64 ![]() David |

I'm sorry to revive a 3 year old thread, but the search button brought me here.
Any of you guys succeeded in creating the USB flash drive and actually being able to install VSP 6.3 with that instead of the dvd? I've failed miserably with 4 different usb flash drives after following the steps described in page 23 of the manual. https://downloads.avaya.com/css/P8/documents/100068113 I always end up with the installer not being able to find the ks.cfg file like in the image that I have attached to this message. It doesn't matter if I try it on a S8300 D/E or on a HP DL360G8, I always end up with that "error" message. Any tips? Thanks in advance. Cheers Last edited by corre44; 04-24-2018 at 02:49 PM. |

Notice that USB installation of System Platform isn't covered so it may no longer be a supported method. What is the reason you're avoiding installing from DVD? |
