I upgraded an IPO from a 6.1 to an 8.1. Added the essential license after but I am now getting an message "telephony services suspended on IP Office until a valid license is installed. Manager shows the License as valid, but the IP office is not functioning. How do I get the suspension taken off?

Purchase an UPGRADE license in addition to the Essential License.

Why would I need to purchase an additional license? Origional r6.0 didn't use one, and we purchased valid Essential edition license needed to run r8

Because 8.0 is an UPGRADED release from 6.1
You can stay at any release within 6.1(x) without an upgrade license, but as soon as you go to 7.0 (or higher) from your 6.1, you need to add an Upgrade license. Essential license is required in 8.0 and higher. If you had stepped your unit from 6.1 to 7.0 to 8.0 to 9.1, the system would have generated a virtual essential edition license, and you would not have needed to purchase it. However, it is tied to the chassis, so if it died later and you had to replace, you will lose that virtual essential license and have to purchase one for the new control unit. Contact a competent Business Partner and sort things out. |
