Default Has anyone gotten System Manager Inventory Discovery to work?

We are running System Manager 6.3.10 and are trying to configure discovery of our existing inventory. The documentation is almost non-existant and we don't seem to be able to get this to work. It used to work great when it was in the Network Management Product but since it got merged into System Manager, we haven't been able to get it to work.

We are trying to get this to work so we can then use the software deployment component which is the replacement for SUM (Software update manager).

If you have it working and wouldn't mind discussing your experiences, I would be very interested in speaking with you.

Im sure I had it working previously, but will be setting it up again in the next two weeks to use the update manager if you need to have a chat about it

Default System Manager Inventory and Discovery

A service ticket was open with Avaya to troubleshoot this issue with John Hancock.

SNMP v1 discovery of CM and Gateways works correctly. A bug was found when using SNMPv3. The bug is being resolved in System Manager 6.3.12 (GA Feb 9, 2015) and will allow support of SNMPv3 for discovery . As a side note, the privacy types AES192 and AES 256 are not supported for discovery, when using SNMPv3. At a later date, when an update is made to the SMGR SNMP4J sub-component, the SNMPv3 privacy types of AES192 and AES256 will be supported.

Also note that the System Manager Admin Guide posted on the Avaya Support portal has the following documented:

Chapter 15- Managing Inventory (to setup discovery)
Chapter 25 – Software Management (to perform updates and upgrades once the discovery is collected and an inventory is established)
