Default CM 6 :License File on Duplex Server

Hi,

I need some help on how to install the license file on a Duplex Server. The license file is generated based on the MAC address of the weblm in VSP. The CM looks by default within the weblm server within a VSP. If the primary VSP fails the standby server won't have access to that WebLM, therefore how should licenses be generate. On a Duplex server the weblm is really unique?

Thank in advance,
Alex

Default Re: CM 6 :License File on Duplex Server

Hi Alex,

For Communication Manager 6.0 and later, license files are installed only on the Communication Manager main server. License files are not installed on survivable servers. Survivable servers receive licensing information from the main server. If you are licensing a duplicated pair configuration, you must install the license file on both servers. The license file is not synchronized from the active server to the standby server. You must provide the WebLM host ID to activate the license file in PLDS.

The WebLM host ID is the MAC address of the server and is obtained from the WebLM Web interface When you activate a Communication Manager license file for a duplicated pair in PLDS, you must provide the WebLM host ID for both servers. Both host IDs are included in the license file that is generated, and that license file must be installed on both servers in the duplicated pair.

Hope this helps
Arbi
