CS1000 MGC Gold Image

Hi all

i am trying to repair a corrupted MGC Card. Gold Image on Board is defective.
There is a procedure to reinstall the CSP Gold Image described in the distributors Troubleshhoting Guide:

Removing the CSP to make MGC boot from Gold Image

Steps to Put the Gold Image
• FTP the file “mainos.st.Z” to “/u” Directory
• Execute the command copyImageToFlash "mainos.st.Z", 4
Commands to remove the CSP and make it bootable from Gold Image
• Execute the command diskFormat all
• Execute the command MGCIPClear

After one reboot, MGC boots with Gold Image (like brand new card from Factory).

The problem is i can`t find the Image File mainos.st.Z
Can someone tell me where i can get this file?

I too need to rebuild the MGC Gold Image as the MGS is getting stuck while booting,

auto-booting...

I have tried to clear the contents of the Compact flash card and rebooting the MGS card, but it always gets stuck at the same point and doesnt allow me to do anything.

Any pointers to where to find the image mentioned in the troubleshooting guide and details on how to install it would be helpful.

Very much for a long time used, details I do not remember. It is not assured that at you the same problem. But if MGC absolutely dead it is possible to try.

I had the same problem with MGS uan, while new loudware, this will erase all loudware and opened a case with AVAYA, I recommend replacing the whole card

This is how i do it
Various different MGC problems, for example failure to accept a loadware upgrade or going into a reboot loop after adding a new DSP daughterboard, can be overcome by using the diskformat command and/or booting to the 'gold' image.
To get the MGC to boot to the gold you must get to the MGC bootrom prompt. Use the following steps to do this:
1) reboot the MGC
2) as it is booting type <CTRL>B just after the creation date is printed and the [VxWorks Boot] prompt should be displayed
3) at the prompt type in test
4) choose option b to change the boot options
5) select option 2 to force CSP to boot from gold image once
6) select option 0 to return to previous menu
7) press return key to exit menu and return to prompt
8) enter @ at the prompt
9) the MGC will boot the gold image

To format the compact flash from the gold you must press <CTRL>I when prompted during the MGC gold boot.
This will bring up a VxWorks prompt ->.
At the prompt enter diskformat "all" then mgcIPClear
This will format the MGC's internal compact flash.
Reboot the MGC and when it registers to the call server it will automatically upgrade.
