Default Updating IP Phone Firmware

This may seem very basic but I have to ask any way.

When an IP phone requests a firmware update, there is a momentary disruption to the computer that is connected to the phone.

Besides completing firmware updates outside normal business hours or not connecting the computer to the phone/network, what is Avaya's best practice for updating a phone's firmware without disrupting computer connectivity to the network?

Don't think there's a way around this. The phone goes out-of-service for firmware updates and is unable to act as an ethernet switch.
