Default Learning IPO on decommissioned equipment.

Hi All,

My company recently upgraded from an IP406v2 to an IP500v2 system. Since the old PBX's weren't in use anymore I talked to my boss and he let me take one of the 406's and a 5410 phone home. Since we migrated over we also migrated our licenses, this particular unit has a PRI card and used H323 for site-to-site calling, never used SIP.

I bought a DID and service from voip.ms and tried to setup a SIP trunk to play around, of course without a license this doesn't work.

Does Avaya offer student licenses so people can learn their tech without spending a fortune? I'd be looking for licenses to accommodate 1 user so I'm not trying to scam them and get free licenses for business use. I'd just like to be able to break/fix things at home in a controlled, non production environment. Others have suggested that I learn SIP fundamentals with Asterisk but i'd prefer to stay within the Avaya ecosystem and learn more about the same platform I use at work.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
-Pat

A single SIP trunk channel license is $75.

If you have an IP500v2 running in basic mode you can enable 3 SIP trunk channels without a license.

Also, Partners are allowed to have 2 demo kits. If you still have the dongle for the 406, you can still use the licenses on it.
