Default Serv ices VM 3.0.0.0.11 Upgrade Problems

Services 3.0.0.0.11 fails about 50% of the time when I try to install.

Baseline System

S8300D V4 S8 - Brand new cards 14WZxxxxx
System Platform 6.3.7 with Services 2.0.0.0.15 running
CM 6.3.0.0.1105

Patches

22098 - cm 6.3.9.1
21904 - cm shellshock
KERNAL-2.6.18-400.AV1
PLAT-rhel-5.3-3019
6.3.10.0.20 Utility Server

Using Services_VM_3.0.0.0.11.iso. Checked MD5 and it matched.

Tried copying files to /vsp-template or installing from DVD. Same results, about 50% of the time it works perfectly, the other it fails.

Error at this stage of install - Install services_vm fails between 9-14% when installing.

I have immediately tried again when the failed installation finishes and again sometimes it works and sometimes it fails.

Had it fail and copied files directly from /vsp-template to another LSP and it worked on that system.

Got out a brand new S8300D (sealed in box) and just installed VSP 6.3.7 factory fresh and the imediately services vm 3.0.0.0.11 iso. Tried it twice, first time worked, second failed at 12%. This was from files transfered to /vsp-templates.

Then did it again two more times using the dvd as the source for the services vm 3.0.0.0.11 upgrade. Failed first time, worked fine second time.

I am out of ideas?

Help

thanks

David

Workaround taken directly from the M$ playbook

Reboot system platform and then immediately install the Services VM 3.0.0.0.11 template upgrade and it will works everytime.

Done a dozen or so upgrades and none have failed now.

I guess this is now SERVICE AFFECTING

Just tried upgrading 10 remote sites, 8 failed.

Upgraded to vsp 6.3.7.0.05001.0 first.

Went to Server Management / Network and enabled Services VM

Under Virtual Machine Management clicked on Template upgrade.

Selected Services VM

Chose the 3.0.0.0.11 small.ovf

It fails between 9-14% of install services_vm section. If it ever makes it past 15% it works.

Any ideas?

David
