Default How to set up Announce only with no voicemail

I have IP office 8.1
I have some users that I want to turn off the voice mail but still have an announcement on their phone. e.g. "Im not here now please call me back at 1:30". then drop the call or something (don't care really)
However when I turn VM off the phone just rings and rings with no message.
How can I set it up so that it will announce with message but no Voice Mail.
Thanks.

Hello

You could try turning off voicemail for the user and using the Announcement tab. Try setting a "Wait before first announcement" to something similiar to the length of time that voicemail is picked up and have the user record their greeting.

I don't know much about the system but when I tried this an announcement comes on and says all operators are busy please wait for one to be available.
I don't think this tab is for announce only calls. Unless you can provide more details on setting it up. There must ( I hope) be just a box that allows announcements but no vm?

Thanks.

The answer depend very much on which voicemail you have (embedded or Voicemail Pro) and in which mode it is running (IP Office mailbox mode or Intuity mailbox mode).

Hallo,

setup the user with voice mail, than tell them to record the greeting they wish to give to the caller. Then in vociemail (if using embedded voice mail) choose option 4 to save the greeting. This will save the greeting without giving an option to the caller to leave a message. The greeting will then played contentiously.

Here an extract out of a description I ahve written for a customer;

Press 3 to select the option to edit your greeting.
Press 2 to change your greeting.

When prompted, speak your new greeting. The greeting must be longer than 3 seconds. A long (approximately 10 seconds) period of silence will disconnect you from voicemail.

Press 2 when you have finished recording your greeting.
Press 1 to listen to your new greeting. After you have listened to your greeting:
To save the new greeting: Press 3. Do not use this option, use Option “4”
To re-record the new greeting: Press 2.
To save the new greeting as a continuous loop: Press 4.

Callers are not able to leave messages. Note that when you select this option, you can only change the greeting back to a normal greeting by recording a new greeting.
Hope that this helps you.
