Hi Guys,
We have Avaya IP office 500 controller and few digital expansion modules in one of our sites. The plan is to stretch our LAN network and as part of this operation, we want to just move 2 of the existing digital expansion modules from Site-A to Site-B, but the phones in site-B should still be able to communicate with the IP 500 Controller card in Site-A. Can this be done? The connection between site-A and Site-B will be 1Gig P-to-P connection. The plan is create a L2 trunk ports on each side between two cisco L3 switches and carry the Voice and Data ( vlan 5 and Vlan 25). Please note these phones are not VOIP enabled, so they only connect to digital modules. My question is how can i connect this DIG module in Site-B back to Site-B's IP Office 500 Controller? If i use a trunk between sites and then connect IP office 500 Ctlr ---vlan5----Cisco 3560-----Trunk---------Cisco 3560----- Ip Office 500 DIG expansion Module ---- Avaya DIG Phone. Many thanks Rob |

Sorry but Avaya are very strict on this one, only the 1m blue cable supplied with the expansion module can be used to connect it to the control unit. Using any other cable is not supported*.
Unless you put another IP500 at site B, it will be easier to install some IP (H323 or SIP) extensions. *Plenty of people have tried and some have got it working for a while but when problem occur they are told "not supported". |
