Thanks for the information, I just got an e-notification about a new 46xxsettings.txt file. Not sure if this will help or not. So FYI only.

https://support.avaya.com/css/appman...Downloads_Page

The 46xxsettings.txt file is used to specify certain system parameters. It is used by all 1600, 16CC, 3600, 4600 and 9600 IP & SIP Telephones. The latest version of the 46xxsettings.txt file has been updated to include new parameters used by the 1600, 16CC, 3600, 4600 and 9600 IP & SIP Telephones.
IMPORTANT: There are TWO 46xxsettings.txt files for these products. Make sure you download and use the correct file for your product and release.

Put this in your 46xxsettings.txt file.

IF $GROUP SEQ 0 GOTO NO96XXVPN

IF $GROUP SEQ 876 GOTO 96XXVPN

# 96XXVPN

################################################## #
## VPN Mode
## 0: Disabled, 1: Enabled.
################################################## #

SET NVVPNMODE 1

################################################## #
## Craft access
## 0: Enabled, 1: only view option is available?
################################################## #

SET PROCSTAT 0

################################################## #
## craft access code
################################################## #

SET PROCPSWD 27238

################################################## #
## VPN craft access
## 0: disabled, 1: view only
## 2: View and edit.
################################################## #

SET VPNPROC 2

# NO96XXVPN

Then enter the craft menu and set the group to 876 instead of 0
Tehn reboot the phone and it will pull the 46xxsettings again but now it allows you to enable the VPN option.

Default Nothing seems to work?

I've done everything suggested here...I actually see the file being downloaded into the 9620 phone but the phone ALWAYS comes up with VPN disabled & it won't let me change it?

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Hi,

Did you changed the group on the phone?
Press the mute button and type craft (27238) and then go to group.
Enter group number 876 (vpn) and save and exit
The phone reboots ans then will get the right information.

Question NVVPNUSER in 46xxsetting file

Hi Folks, Hope all is well.

My environment:
CM 6.0.1
IP phone 9611G ver: 6.23.12
H323
Cisco ASA 55XX.

I got most of VPN configuration fingured out. But one question remaining, regarding NVVPNUSER that contains the string $MACADDR. For the life of me, I could not make the string will be replaced by the telephone's MAC address.

Any though of using IF statement to archive the goal? to stage the phone and it may be preconfigured in a file to eliminate the need for the user to manually enter the value.
## NVVPNUSER specifies the user name to use for VPN authentication.
## Normally, this value is entered by the user and not set in this file.
## However, if the user names are set in a staging environment using IF statements
## based on the telephones' MAC addresses, or if the user name is a fixed string
## based on the serial number and/or the MAC address of the telephone,
## it may be preconfigured in a file to eliminate the need for the user to manually enter the value.
Much appreciated to shed some light.

Kevin
