Default changing ip-network-region on mapping

I need to change the ip-network-region on my ip-network-mapping screen. Everything is programmed and I am ready to change am not certain of the procedures. Can I just input the change and hit enter? If I do that will it drop service? Is the change immediately effective?
Thank you for the information.
