How do I update my 9641G IP Phones when I DONT have a file server integrated into the architecture? 99.9% of our endpoints are TDM off our CM4 servers.
We currently aquired 9641G phones that state that the minimum CM requirement is CM 5.2. ....Despite that, we were able to program those stations with Communication Manager 4 and successfully process calls. I would like to update the firmware for those phones from S6.1. The phones have this load: 9641G Avaya One-X Deskphone S6.1.0 Protocol: H323 Application file: S9621_41HALBR6_1r15_V4r52.tar Kernel/RFS file: S96x1_UKR_V0r15_V0r15.tar Like I mentioned earlier, we do not have a file server integrated into this system. Thank you, Ray |

You need an http server to upgrade the software on the 9641G, to provide it with configurable settings (via the 46xxsettings.txt file), and to backup settings/contacts/logs.

Thanks,
Here is where I am at so far. 1) I had unzipped downloaded upgrade the file into the Root directory of the HTTP server like the documentation said to. 2) I restarted the HTTP service 3) Entered the IP of the HTTP server into the 9641G 4) Rebooted the phone Phone rebooted, Acknowledged the HTTP server and booted normally. There was no indication that it had found or used the upgrade file. I am stuck... |

Using packet capture software (wireshark), do you see a GET request for 96x1Hupgrade.txt leaving the phone and making it all the way to your http server?
Looking at your http server log, do you see it receiving the GET request and responding with the file? Does the file make it all the way back to the phone? |
