Default Firmware Update 9611G

I've bought 2 new 9611G phones to use with our IP Office 500.
The models are of a newer version. After connecting them to the IP Office 500, the loaded the firmware and now the display is all out of order.
I've downloaded the latest firmware and placed the files in the following directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Avaya\IP Office\Manager (after making a copy of the directory)

Now when I reconnect one of the new phones or an old one, the new firmware isn' t being loaded.
Do I have to do a restart of the IP Office or something like that to get the new firmware loaded?
I hope someone can help me out with this.

Unless you specifically configured the IP Office system to direct the phones to Manager to get their files, then they will have used the normal default, which is to get the files from the System SD card installed inside the IP500 V2.

First however; what release of software is your IP500 V2 running?

Thanks for the quick reply.

The server is running on the following software:
Avaya IP Office Manager 10.1 (69)

I'm not sure how i can het to the IP500 V2 to change the data on the System SD Card.

I've found out that I can access the SD with the embedded file management.
Can I just replace the files in primary with the new firmware files downloaded from the Avaya website?
Do I need to do a restart to load the data in the RAM memory of the IP Office?

I've figured it out.

- In Avaya IP Office manager go to File>Advanced>Embedded File Management
- Select the IP 500 IP-Address and press OK
- Go to System SD>System>Primary>
- Choose Upload File (select the new firmware an press Open)
- Then File>Upload System Files (to upload the new data to RAM)
- Restart Phone to load the new firmware

Thank you for sending me in the right direction!

Your approach is a bit... special.

First, there is no need to load any different files for newly added phones. In IPO there is everything ready for all supported phone types. Just connect them and wait.
For IP-Phones there is a process involving DHCP, pointing to IPO for registration and also to the file server which is the IPO itself for a standard installation. The phone request a specific file with upgrade instructions and the next file to parse. This way the phone will load the firmware level which is available.

Now, which is the right firmware? The one found at any website? Even Avaya? No! It's the one which belongs to the release of the IPO. Therefore: never need to play around with those files. And if, then you kneed to know what to do and adjust the whole set of files. For example if you upload file 721.bin but the upgrade file has 715.bin listed, then 721.bin is not loaded.

Better upgrade the IPO to a new Maintenance or Major Release, this will also include all new and matching phone firmware.
