Users need to update the system time and date as needed and check it frequently.

Maintaining the system date and time is important, because it is used for telephone displays, scheduling of automatic backups, and dates and times on reports. This also addresses Daylight Savings Time (DST) issues.

This technical tip covers how to set/change the system date and time for the DEFINITY Enterprise Communication Server (ECS) and DEFINITY Prologix.

To change the system date and time: (follow the order on the screen)

1.     Type set time and hit return/enter. The Date and time screen appears:

display time

                               DATE AND TIME

        DATE

Day of the Week: Tuesday        Month: April

Day of the Month: 8               Year: 2014

        TIME

Hour: 8   Minute: 38    Second: 0    Type: Standard

                       Daylight Savings Rule: 0

WARNING: Changing the date or time may impact BCMS, CDR, SCHEDULED EVENTS,

           and MEASUREMENTS

2.     Using a 24-hour clock, fill in the appropriate fields. For example, for 2:00 p.m., enter 14 in the hour field and 00 in the minute field.

3.     Press to save changes to system memory.

4.     Type display time and press to check the new date and time.

Note:

When you change the date and time, some phone displays may not automatically refresh.  End-users should press the date/time button on their phone and wait for the terminal to return to "normal" to update the display.

Note for versions G3V7 and above:

There are additional fields on the set/display time screen. The Type field should be set to standard or daylight savings, depending on which is currently correct. The Daylight Savings Rulefield is set to one of 17 rules (0-16), defined on the change daylight-savings-rule screen. These entries will automatically set the system time to comply with Daylight Savings Time changes. Example:

display daylight-savings-rules                                  Page   1 of   2
                        DAYLIGHT SAVINGS RULES

Rule          Change Day                 Month  Date   Time    Increment

  0: No Daylight Savings

1: Start: first Sunday     on or after March     8   at 02:00   01:00
Stop: first Sunday     on or after November  1   at 02:00

Additionally, with the Multiple Locations feature activated, the above time can be offset + or - on the change location (1-44) screen. This screen also allows a different daylight-savings-rule to be used, when Port Networks (PNs) are located in different geographic areas. The location identifier (1-44) is associated with each PN on the add/change cabinet screen.

When you change the date or time, some display phones may not automatically refresh the display. If this happens, have each user press the date/time button on their phone and the display should update.
