Problem Clarification

Server Administration - Need to change time on AES.

Cause

Customer Administration.

Solution

Modify AES time using dateconfig tool via the command line.

  1. Log in as root .
  2. Type dateconfig.

AE Service displays the Date/Time Initialization screen, with the first box of the Date field initially selected.

Note: By default an NTP Server IP is administered as 127.127.0.1. This setting must be removed before you can set the date and time.
  3. Using the Tab key, go to the NTP Server field.
  4. With your cursor in NTP Server field use the Backspace key to remove the host name or IP address of the NTP Server. After you have removed the host name or IP Address of the NTP server, press the space bar once to enter a blank space in the NTP server field.
  5. Press the Tab key to move to the OK box. Press Enter to select OK and exit dateconfig.
  6. Type dateconfig to run the dateconfig utility again.
  7. AE Service displays the Date/Time Initialization screen.
  8. Verify that the NTP Server field is blank. Using the Tab key to move from field to field, change any of the date and time settings that you need to change.

Note: If the NTP Server field is not blank, repeat Steps 3, 4, 5, and 6.
  9. After you have completed your date and time changes, the Tab key to move to the OK box.
  10. Press Enter to select OK and exit dateconfig.
  11. Reboot the server: shutdown -r now

The NTP IP Address can also be changed from the AES web page (OAM).

NOTE: If the time is not accurate on the AES, you can also check to see if NTPD is running on CDOM, and that the NTP server(s) are reachable. You can then schedule a maintenance window to re-boot the host server to see if this will synch them all.

1. Maintenance tab

2. Date Time/NTP Server

3. Add/Change the NTP

4. Reboot the AES server --> Maintenance --> Service Controller --> Restart Linux.

NOTE:

  • Changing the date or time: About this task: Changing the date or time of your system implies that it is not synchronized with a Network Time Protocol (NTP) server. If your server is synchronized with an NTP server, you can not change the system date and time unless you disable the NTP Server setting.
  • You can run “service ntpd stop” via the command line to disable NTP.
