About Greetings

Greetings are pre-recorded messages that are automatically played to callers when a call goes to voice mail. If you do not customize your greetings, the default Messaging system greetings are played

Personal Greeting: You can record a standard greeting for callers when you cannot answer a call. For example, when you are away or when your line is busy. You can record a single greeting that the phone plays whenever you do not answer a call. You can also record separate greetings that the phone plays when you are away or when your line is busy.
NoteNote

When you use the Aria TUI, you can record separate Away and Busy personal greetings. When you customize a personal greeting for the first time, the system records the Away greeting first. If you record separate Away and Busy personal greetings, you cannot return to use a single greeting for all calls.

Extended Absence Greeting (EAG): You can record an Extended Absence Greeting to let callers know that you will be away from the office and won’t be able to reply quickly to their messages.

Optional Greetings: These are greetings that play based on a set of configurable rules. For instance, you can set up optional greetings to play during office hours, to all internal callers who get no answer on your phone.

To configure your greetings from a phone, refer to one of the following documents: Both these guides are available at the Messaging User Guides Section at the Avaya Support Web site. If you do not know which TUI you use, contact your administrator.
