Administering switch interfaces
Calls come into the system through switch interfaces (or "cards"). These calls either use digital telephony signals or Voice over IP (VoIP) signals. The system must be told what kinds of signals are coming into each card.
Administration of the switch interfaces typically involves:
- Selecting a type of signal (digital or VoIP).
- Displaying assignments of signals to cards to find out the current configuration.
- Assigning the signal type to a card. This includes defining the characteristics (parameters) of the particular signal that is coming into the card.
- Stopping and restarting the voice system.
