Digital protocol - Wink Start feature

The Wink Start digital protocol is a licensed feature. You must have RTU licenses to use this feature.

Overview

T1 Wink Start is a trunking arrangement where either side can initiate actions. It is a common and reliable connection between switches and networks, computer telephony systems, or other switches. After a connection is established with a distant system for an outgoing call, the system waits for a momentary signal (wink) before sending the digits of the called number. Similarly, on an incoming call, the system sends the wink signal when ready to receive digits.

Hardware requirements

At least one digital telephony card must be installed and operational.

Software requirements

The Wink Start digital protocol feature requires the NMS package (AVnms) software.

Application development considerations

The following considerations apply to application development for Wink Start:

• For TAS, the tic instruction is used for basic control of incoming and outgoing calls on T1 and E1 lines. For more information, see TAS script instructions.
• For IRAPI, the irCall() , irAnswer() , irDial() , and irDisconnect() functions provide the basic call control capabilities for T1 interfaces with IRAPI.
