Backup screens
From this set of screens you can perform either a full backup or a partial backup.
From the Full Backup screen, you can backup your entire system to a location on the LAN. You tell the system where the backup file is located, what its name is, and whether the system should devote a high level of resources to performing the backup. If Oracle is running, Oracle will be stopped by the backup process using the username specified. If a username is not specified, backup will quit.
From the Partial Backup screen, you can perform a partial (also called incremental) backup. Backups of this type include only files changed or created during a specified number of days.
Note:
If the Web Administration session times out during a backup, you can check the status of the backup in one of two ways. You can look at the file /vs/data/backup.status, or you can log in again and check the backup history.
Fields
The following fields are displayed by the browser.
Note:
You can fill in either Directory, Days, or File List, but not two or more of these fields.
- Backup File Title � A description of the backup file (used as a header in the file)
- Days � (Optional) Number of days' worth of files that are backed up (counting the present day). This can be a number between 1 and 90. For example, the most recent day is entered as 1, and the most recent two days are entered as 2.
- Directory � (Optional) The directory to back up
- File list � (Optional) A list of backed-up files. Include full paths, and separate each file in the list with a comma.
- Username to login to Oracle � Oracle username used to stop Oracle
- NFS Mount Directory � The directory on the Network File System where the backup file resides
- Priority � Whether the backup process should have a low or high priority compared to other processes
- Specify a username to stop Oracle? � This is optional if a username has already been administered using the Set Default Parameters option in Web Administration or the setbkparms command.
- Stop Oracle before backup? � Yes or no. Avaya recommends the yes option for partial backups involving increments of days.
- Stop the voice system before backup? � Yes or no. For a full backup, always choose yes. Avaya recommends the yes option for partial backups.
