Configuring H.323 trunk connections for VoIP

After setting node names and stopping LAI, you make entries on the IP Networking Administration forms to configure H.322 trunk connections on DEFINITY or MultiVantage. This topic explains key entries you make on the IP Networking Administration forms to configure H.323 trunks for the Avaya IR system. For a complete discussion, refer to the "IP Networking Administration" section in the DEFINITY� Enterprise Communications Server Release 10 Administration for Network Connectivity, 555-233-504, for a detailed example procedure that describes how to configure an H.323 trunk.

The Avaya IR configuration for Voice over IP must match the MultiVantage H.323 trunk configuration and vice-versa. The following limits apply to the DEFINITY and MultiVantage H.323 trunk configuration for a trunk to an Avaya IR system:

• One trunk group may be assigned to each Avaya IR system.
• Ports from up to three signaling groups can be members of the trunk group.
• Each signaling group can control up to 31 ports.
• Each Avaya IR system must be a node in a network region that uses an IP codec set that contains only one codec: G.711 mu-law.
• If the switch is a DEFINITY, it must run DEFINITY R10 or later for call transfer to function properly. (All MultiVantage releases are able to handle call transfer.)
