Performing Messaging System Administration

Accessing the Product ID

The product ID identifies both the INTUITY AUDIX system and the media server. You must have the product ID when you are contacting your remote maintenance service center.

To access the product ID:

  1. Start at the Maintenance Web Pages main menu and select:
  2. The system displays the Serial Numbers page.

  3. Record the product ID for use with the remote maintenance center.

Starting the Messaging Software (Voice System)

To start the messaging software:

The system displays data indicating processes are starting. The system displays the following message when the startup is complete:

Startup of the Voice System is complete.

Restarting the Messaging System (AUDIX)

To restart the messaging system:

  1. Log in to the INTUITY AUDIX command prompt screen.

    The system displays the AUDIX command prompt screen.

  2. Enter reset voice-mail restart.

    The system displays the Reset System Restart screen.

  3. Press Enter to restart the messaging system.

Stopping the Messaging Software (Voice System)
 


Stop the voice system only when it is absolutely necessary. When the voice system is stopped, callers to AUDIX hear a fast busy signal, and callers who are sent to AUDIX coverage hear ringing with no answer.

To stop the messaging software:

The system displays the following message when the voice system has stopped:


The Voice System has completely stopped, use the "Start Voice System" choice from the System Control menu to restart the Voice System.
 

    Note: When the voice system is stopped, the user cannot access INTUITY AUDIX administration screens. Messaging Administration still appears as an option on the Global Administration menu, but you cannot select this option. To view INTUITY AUDIX command prompt screens, you must restart the voice system.

Shutting Down the System

To shut down the system:

  1. Login in to the Maintenance Web Pages main menu.

The system displays the Maintenance Web Pages main menu.

  1. Select Shutdown Server under Servers.

The system displays the Shutdown This Server screen .

  1. Click on the Delayed Shutdown radio button to wait for INTUITY AUDIX subscribers to logoff or Immediate to shutdown immediately.
  2. Leave the Restart system after shutdown option blank. Select Shutdown even if this is the active server since this is the only server for INTUITY AUDIX.
  3. Click the Shutdown button.

The system responds by shutting down the system.

Checking the Restart Causes
 

Note: Avaya recommends that you restart the INTUITY AUDIX system at least once every 90 days. The restart refreshes Linux resources and keeps applications running reliably.

The media server system keeps track of the system restarts. Use this log to determine when to perform the next restart.

To check the restarts:

  1. Login in to the Maintenance Web Pages main menu.

    The system displays the Maintenance Web Pages.

  2. Select:
    Restarts
    under Diagnostics.

    The system displays the Restarts screen.

  3. Check the information on the screen for the best date to reboot the system.
  4. If you need to reboot the system, continue with Performing a System Restart.

Performing a System Restart
 

Note: Avaya recommends that you restart the INTUITY AUDIX system at least once every 90 days. The restart refreshes LINUX resources and keeps applications running reliably.



You cannot restart your system if a backup is running.

To perform a restart:

  1. Login in to the Maintenance Web Pages main menu.

The system displays the Maintenance Web Pages main menu.

  1. Select Shutdown Server under Server.

The system displays the Shutdown This Server screen .

  1. Click on the Delayed radio button to wait for INTUITY AUDIX subscribers to logoff or Immediate to shutdown immediately.
  2. Select the Restart system After shutdown option blank. Select Shutdown even if this is the active server since this is the only server for INTUITY AUDIX.
  3. Click the Shutdown button.

The system responds by shutting down the system and then restarts.
