System Administration

This topic has the following information:

Verifying System Installation

As part of the process of troubleshooting system problems, you can verify system installation to confirm that the system's primary software packages have been properly installed. The system information is displayed on the Verify System Install-System Verification page.

The Verify System Installation - System Verification page confirms that the system's primary software packages are properly installed and verifies that a complete version of each application-specific package exists on the system. The system takes a few minutes to perform a series of background checks on the system software. The contents of each installed executable or help file, but not data files, are checked to verify they were unchanged during the lifetime of the system. Each of the primary software packages installed on the system is listed. Exceptions are noted in the output of this command.

Depending on the features you purchased, the modules that you see on the System Status page can vary from those in the table

Monitoring the system in real time

The System Monitor page is a dynamic, real-time page that shows the current status of certain maintenance and security aspects of the system.

  • System Time

  • Message Server Status
  • Number of Major Alarms
  • Number of Minor Alarms
  • Number of Warning Alarms

Monitoring Voice Channels in real time

The INTUITY AUDIX system automatically updates the status information provided by the Voice Channel Monitor report. The default setting for the refresh rate is 5 seconds. You can adjust this interval from 1 to 30 seconds while viewing the Voice Channel Monitor.

To display the Voice Channel Monitor:

  1. Go to the Voice Channel Monitor page.
  2. Enter the new update interval in the Refresh Rate: field. The interval can be any interval between 1 and 30 seconds.
  3. Click Display.

The Voice Channel Monitor Display is displayed.

The table for Field Definitions: Voice Channel Display page details the fields on this display-only screen.

Shortening the refresh rate consumes more system resources and could adversely affect system performance. Monitor your system after changing this interval to ensure that the system is performing well.

Verifying Text-to-Speech

Text-to-Speech (TTS) conversion is an optional feature that enables users who access their AUDIX mailboxes with the telephone to listen to a voiced rendering of Message Manager messages.

Accessing Text-to-Speech Parameters

The TTS session default is:

headers_and_bodies — the entire text component of the message is voiced.

If file attachment is included in a message, that component is not voiced. The subscriber hears only summary information regarding the size of the attached file.

  1. Log in to the INTUITY AUDIX command prompt screen.

The system displays the AUDIX command prompt screen.

  2. At the enter command: prompt, enter change system-parameters features

  6. Press F6 (Choices).

The system displays the TTS Choices menu.

  7. Select headers and bodies
  8. Press F3 (Enter) to save the information.

The system displays the following message:

    Command Successfully Completed.
