Verify System Install - System Verification Page

This page confirms that the system's primary software packages are properly installed and verifies that a complete version of each application-specific package exists on the system. The system takes a few minutes to perform a series of background checks on the system software. The contents of each installed executable or help file, but not data files, are checked to verify they were unchanged during the lifetime of the system. Each of the primary software packages installed on the system is listed. Exceptions are noted in the output of this command.

Note: Attribute flags will only appear for problem fields. If no problem has been found a "." is displayed as a place holder (for example: S....UGT /html/base/classes/audixlogin.class).

Each field is defined below:

  • S designates the file size
  • M designates the file's mode
  • 5 designates the MD5 checksum of the file
  • D designates the file's major and minor numbers
  • L designates the file's symbolic link contents
  • U designates the owner of the file
  • G designates the file's group
  • T designates the modification time of the file
  • c appears only when the file is a configuration file
Note: Configuration files constantly change and are unlikely to verify successfully.
  • <file> is the name of the file that failed verification, the complete file path is listed
  • "missing" is displayed when a file is completely missing

Note: This command can take several minutes to be executed.
