Setting up the audio device

You can record customized prompts using local multimedia or a telephone. It is recommended that you use multimedia for ease of recording and editing. However, you may find that higher quality recordings can be achieved over the telephone, for example, if the microphone picks up background noise.

The current audio device is indicated on the Voice Player by the following icons:

To set up telephone recording

  1. From the Sound menu, choose the Preferences command to display the Media Setup page.
  2. In the When composing voice messages field, select Telephone.
  3. Click Configure.
  4. The Telephone Properties screen is displayed.

  5. In the Extension number field, enter your extension or phone number.
  6. In the Message application server name field, enter the name of the MAS.
  7. Click OK.
  8. The telephone icon is shown in the voice player.

  9. Restart Visual Voice Editor for the configuration changes to take effect.
