Selecting a data source

If Reporting Tool and the tracing system are not installed on the same machine, you need to select a system data source which references the transaction database on the tracing system machine.

To select a data source

  1. From the File menu, choose Source.
  2. The standard Windows ODBC Data Source Administrator dialog box is displayed.

  3. Select the System DSN property page.
  4. In Data Source Name, select TrxDB.
  5. Click Add.
  6. The Create New Data Source dialog box is displayed.

  7. Select Microsoft Access Driver.
  8. Click Finish.
  9. The ODBC Microsoft Access Setup dialog box is displayed.

  10. Click Select.
  11. Locate and select the transaction database you want to use. This is the database that you installed as part of the system installation, for example, C:\Program files\Tracing.
  12. Click OK in the Select Database dialog box.
  13. Click OK in the ODBC Microsoft Access Setup dialog box.
  14. Click OK in the ODBC Data Source Administrator dialog box.
