Configuring Dial-by-Name

Dial-by-Name is a method of addressing that allows callers to spell a recipient's name on the telephone keypad.

Use the Dial By Name property page to configure the way in which names are stored in the front end database (FEDB) for use by Dial-by-Name. If the FEDB contains names that are not easily mapped to a telephone keypad, for example if you are using a far eastern language, you should configure Dial-by-Name to map the recipient’s e-mail address instead of their first name and last name.

To display the Dial-by-Name properties page

  1. In the Voice Mail System Configuration window, choose the voice mail domain.
  2. Choose Telephone User Interface.
  3. Select the Dial By Name property page

To configure Dial-by-Name properties

On the Class of Service property page, select the method used to match names when using Dial-by-Name. You can choose from:

Note: If you use the “Last Name, First Name” method to match names, when all the last names in the GAL have been found, the system searches e-mail aliases for matches.
