Configuring the analog telephony user interface

Use the Telephony Interface (Analog) property page to configure ports.

To configure telephony interface properties (Analog)

  1. In the Voice Mail System Configuration window, choose Message Application Servers.
  2. Choose the messaging application server you want to configure.
  3. Select Telephony Interface.
  4. Click on the Analog tab.
  5. Tip: To make the Analog telephony interface active, click on the down arrow and select Make Active. If the Analog telephony interface is already active, this field does not appear.

    The Analog Telephony Interface property page is displayed.

  6. In the Playback Volume field, enter a value for the playback volume. The range is –8 through 8 and the default is 2. It is recommended that you enter 2 for 24-port, 8-port and 4-port cards.
  7. In the Number of Ports field, enter the number of ports that connect the MAS with the PBX.
  8. Note: If you increase the number of ports, you must perform a restart before you can administer them.
  9. Enable or disable ports as required, by checking or clearing the check boxes to the left of each port. All ports are selected by default.
  10. Tip: You can also enable/disable a port using the Port Monitor application. Any changes made there are reflected in the Voice Mail System Configuration application and vice versa.
  11. Configure the ports by entering information directly in the following fields:
    • Extension.  Enter the port extension number. You can enter up to 10 digits. This field is blank by default.
    • Incoming Ring Count.  Enter a number to specify the number of rings before a call on the port is answered. The range is 1 through 9 and the default is 1.
    • Primary Id.  Enter the first part of the PBX integration identifier, known as the Logical Terminal Number (LTN), for serial integration only. You can enter up to 10 characters and digits (including & * # and ,). This field is blank by default.
    • Secondary Id.  Enter the second part of the PBX integration identifier, known as the Message Desk Number (MD), for serial integration only. You can enter up to 10 characters and digits (including & * # and ,). This field is blank by default.
  12. In the Tone File Path field, enter the location of the tone file, accucall.tsf. The location of the tone file is specified at installation. By default this is: C:\Rht\
  13. Note: If you are administering the voice mail system remotely and Voice Mail System Configuration is not running on the MAS, the Browse button is not available.
  14. Click OK to save the settings.
  15. Restart the MAS to activate the new settings.
