Configuring serial general properties (MAS Admin)

Use the Serial General property page to configure serial PBX integration for a MAS. With serial integration, the MAS receives incoming call information via a serial link.

To display the Serial General property page

In the Voice Mail System Configuration window, choose Message Application Servers.

Choose the MAS you want to configure.

Choose PBX Integration.

Select the Serial General property page.

To configure serial general integration properties

Packet Format. Select the PBX serial integration data packet format from the list. Depending on your PBX type, choose SMDI, Intecom, DMID, NEC-2400, or Ericsson MD110. If you are using NEC-2400, Ericsson MD110, or DMID, use the Serial NEC/Ericsson/DMID property page to configure the protocol type.

Extension Field Length in Packet. Enter the number of digits in the packet sent from the integration device. The range is 2 through 10 and the default is 4.

Maximum Number of Remote Service Sessions. Enter the maximum number of remote messaging application servers (MASs) that are dependent on the primary server for integration. The range is 0 through 999 and the default is 0.

Log Serial Packets. Select to log the serial integration data in the operation history database. This check box is selected by default.

Serial Settings button. Click to open the Serial Settings dialog box where you can configure the serial line settings. For information, see Configuring serial settings.
