Removing the cover

The chassis cover protects the internal components. You must remove the front bezel and top cover to access the internal components.

To remove the cover:

1. Shut down the system and remove the AC power cords.
2. For a stackable (desktop) configuration: Remove any units stacked on top of the machine you need to access.
3. Remove the bezel (plastic cover) on the front of the chassis. See Removing or replacing the front bezel.
1. Press down on the two tabs on the top of the bezel.
2. Rock the bezel forward, then lift it out.
4. Loosen the screw latch for the top cover located on the back of the chassis. See:
• MSS standard configuration (back view)
• MSS high-availability configuration (back view)
• Messaging Application Server (back view)
5. For a rack-mounted unit: Slide the machine forward.

   Note: If you don't have sufficient cable slack, you may need to unplug the cables on the back of the machine in order to slide it all the way forward.

6. Slide the top cover forward, then lift it off the chassis. See Removing or replacing the cover.
7. The internal components are now accessible for replacement. See:
