show active-measurements

The show active-measurements command displays a table of active probes that meet your specified filter criteria. Columns in the table are:

Output is displayed as follows:

ssf-neat-5008# show active-measurements range-address 4.2.0.0/16

This display summarizes the results of two stand-alone active probes configured using the active-measurement target command, on an CNA system that has four USTATs (modules 4, 5 and 6).

P and S columns show normal probing status for four rows and three rows are currently timing out; and outages are not being reported to the decision-maker process for first one (s indicates suppressed).

Possible values for the P column are:

Possible values for the O column are:

Target and Address values are the same for each, since there was no DNS resolution of targets (as there would have been had the targets been specified by host name). Over time, these values can give you insight about how hosts are configured in DNS. Each time the target resolves to a different address, there will be a new entry in the table. By comparing measurement counts, you can discover how often the host name resolves to a specific IP address.

The Module column lists USTATs by name and slot number. On an IBM xSeries platform running CNA, there is no relevant slot or subsystem information, regardless of the number of USTAT modules configured.

The first table compares the number of lines that match the search criteria specified when you launched the command to the number that are actually in the current output. For example, if you execute the show active-measurements command with no search parameters, the Found row will report the total number of probe reports currently in memory. If used with the traceprobe parameter, it will show the last reachable hosts for a given target. If the last reachable hosts are not the same for all ustats, then the measurements are not reported to the database. If you are not seeing measurements for a traceprobe target, you can use this command to help explain this.

However, the command output will never exceed 5,000 lines, so the Shown line will report that number of probes.

If the number of probes found exceeds the number of lines shown, you should refine your search query in order to see the additional probe reports.

The first two lines in the second table show the results of the first configured probe, which targets the address 4.2.143.75 (one line for each of the four USTATs).

In 203 attempts (total of success and errors), the probe succeeded on two of the USTATs and failed on the other one. The error codes indicate that all probes timed out on the first USTAT and five on the second.

Use the command clear active-measurements to clear the data tables and counters displayed by the show active-measurements command. This command also resets the Probing status to '.', the Outage Reporting status to 's', clears the decision-maker process’s knowledge of the data contained in the display, and, for traceprobe targets, forces a traceroute.
