Named VIPs

If you create active measurement VIP addresses with the vip command, you can selectively change the IP addresses used to send probes according to different active-measurement groups.

For example, if you have two USTATs and want to send probes to one set of targets through one set of VIP addresses and to a different set of targets through a separate set of VIP addresses, you could configure named VIPs as follows:

module ustat A

  vip name one 192.168.10.1

  vip name two 192.168.20.1

  end

module ustat B

  vip name one 192.168.10.2

  vip name two 192.168.20.2

  end

Assuming you already have two active measurement groups configured, designate different named VIPs for each as follows:

module engine

  active-measurement group one

    use named-vip one

    end

  active-measurement group two

    use named-vip two

    end

  end

. . .

Probes configured in group one will be sent from addresses 192.168.10.1 and 192.168.10.2, and probes configured in group two will be sent from addresses 192.168.20.1 and 192.168.20.2.

If you configure an active measurement group to use a named vip, but a particular ustat does not have a vip of the specified name, then that group's targets will not probe over the USTAT with the missing name.
