Using Agent-Based Measurement with Performance Groups

Agent-Based Measurement can guarantee that there will be sufficient measurements in the CNA database for specific prefixes of interest to you, such as:

Since performance groups (see the performance-group command) aggregate measurements for all prefixes in the group, data gathered by your probe target will be applied to all group-member prefixes.

To use a single probe to gather data for multiple prefixes, include the target of the active probe as one of the prefixes in the group. All prefixes in the group should be located close to each other in the network topology, so that routes between your network and any one of the group will approximate routes to any of the prefixes in the group.

This can be useful if you want to be sure your CNA measurement database contains data for a prefix that contains a destination important to you but that you don’t want to target directly. If the prefix is geographically close to another prefix in which you have already targeted a probe, the data you gather for one can be applied to both by means of a performance group.
