Show Command Output

You can view a projection of your providers’ bills for the current month at current usage rates, using the show link billing command (all usage rates are in megabits per second):

Avaya_ANS> show link billing link_A

Link: link_A

Period Covered: 06/13/02 - 06/13/02 ** not a complete billing period

Contract type: Burstable

Billing Calculation Formula: percentile-max-inbound-outbound

Maximum Sample to date: 0.21

Minimum Commit:         0 M

Projected Billing tier: .1 M (0.21 calculated)

Minimum Billing tier:   .1 M (0.21 calculated)

Samples taken to date:

  Sampled:   17

  Remaining: 7

  Total:     24

Projected Cost: $1000 (at current data rate through end of cycle)

Minimum Cost:   $1000

The example output contains the following information:

Here is an example of a linear billing tier:

Link: spalhlr1

Period Covered: 09/01/02 - 09/27/02 ** not a complete billing period

Contract type: Burstable

Billing Calculation Formula: avg-max-inbound-outbound

Maximum Sample to date: 17.6 M

Minimum Commit:         3 M

Projected Billing tier: 12 M (10.34 M calculated )

Minimum Billing tier: not applicable to billing formula

Samples taken to date:

  Sampled:   7608

  Remaining: 1032

  Total:     8640

Projected Cost: $1,190.41 (at current data rate through end of cycle)

Minimum Cost: not applicable to billing formula

Here is the configuration for this link:

link spalhlr1

  ...

  usage-reporting formula avg-max-inbound-outbound

  usage-reporting cost 3 1000

  usage-reporting cost 6 10 per-mbps offset 10

  usage-reporting cost 9 20 per-mbps offset 20

  usage-reporting cost 12 30 per-mbps offset 30

  usage-reporting cost 15 40 per-mbps offset 40

 end

Here is how CNA calculates the cost:

First the bandwidth percentile is calculated (in this example, the percentile value from the configuration is not used because the formula is avg-max-inbound-outbound). All billing rate bandwidth values (inbound and outbound) for the time period covered are retrieved from the billing rate rrd file for this link. For each sample time, the greater of the inbound and outbound rate is taken, then all these values are averaged. The result in this case is 10.347 Mbps.

Next, the correct billing tier is determined - in this case it is the 12Mbps tier. In order to do this, the CNA system will need to calculate the cost for the previous tier to use as a base cost (if the previous tier is also a linear billing tier, then that tier’s cost will also need to be calculated, and so on).

Now the base cost is determined for each tier, starting at the lowest tier. Then this base cost is used in the calculation for the next tier’s cost:

baseCost = 1000.00 + 0.00

baseCost = 1000.00

baseCost = 1000.00 + ((6.0 - 3.0)*(10)) + 10

baseCost = 1040.00

baseCost = 1040.00 + ((9.0 - 6.0)*(20)) + 20

baseCost = 1120.00

baseCost = 1120.00 + ((10.347 - 9.0)*(30)) + 30

baseCost = 1190.41

With per-mbps-ceiling, the cost would be:

baseCost = 1120.00 + ((11.0 - 9.0)*(30)) + 30

baseCost = 1210.00

With per-mbps-truncate or per-mbps-round, the cost would be:

baseCost = 1120.00 + ((10.0 - 9.0)*(30)) + 30

baseCost = 1180.00
