Using the web application model as an example, metric scores are based on a rolling average of all of the prefix’s HRTT scores in the database. This average is calculated to take into account traffic patterns in the recent past as well as current scores.
The metric is an integer in the range 1 to 1000. The lower the metric, the better the score.
The HRTT score represents the amount of time in milliseconds required for the initial handshake of a TCP transaction, or, for active probes configured to use ICMP, the amount of time required to complete an ICMP echo request. In order to assess the experience of an end user in any given prefix, you need to consider the number of TCP transactions (turns) involved in the download of a single page. This number can vary from several to several dozen depending on the page’s content.
