Trend Report Data Types

Trend reports consist of collections of charts that plot data obtained from the trending database.

You specify the criteria for these charts using the Trend Definition dialog in the web UI. See Trends in Chapter 4: The CNA Web interface. When you save a trend report, you are actually saving this criteria definition, which is used to query the database each time you view the report.

NOTE: Before you define trend-report graphs, you should understand how database table sizes determine whether graph lines represent actual or averaged datapoints. See the section Trending Database in this chapter. Use the show trending CLI command to see current table sizes.

If you specify a relative date range for the graphs that make up the report, new datapoints will be retrieved from the trending database each time you view the report. (See the section Trends in Chapter 4: The CNA Web interface.)

If you specify absolute dates, the same datapoints will be retrieved each time you view the report.
