Stop Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS)

Procedure

To stop Microsoft IIS, do the following:

1. Open the IIS 4.0 console from the Start button, by selecting Programs->Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack->Microsoft Internet Information Server->Internet Service Manager.

   Result:
   

   The Microsoft Management Console dialog box appears.

2. From the Microsoft Management Console, select Internet Information Server->your machine name->Default Web Site, and then Stop the service

3. Stop the World Wide Web Publishing service from the Services dialog box.

   From the Start button, select Settings->Control Panel, and then double-click the Services icon. Click on the World Wide Web Publishing service, and then select Stop.
