UPS Installation for SCC EPN A-Carrier Cabinet
This section describes the procedure for connecting the Lucent Series 1 On-Line Uninterruptible Power System (UPS) to a DEFINITY ® SCC EPN cabinet. The UPS maintains critical A-carrier ports for about 14 minutes during a power outage. It also provides information on wiring, administering, and documenting alarms, which allows remote monitoring of power and UPS problems.
There are two configurations for connecting a UPS to an SCC cabinet:
- UPS connection for fiber-remoted SCC EPN
- UPS connection for DS1-remoted SCC EPN and associated Channel Service Unit (CSU).
Task List: Install UPS
- Connect the UPS
- Wire the 700A8 Plug
- Make the Remaining Connections
- Administer the External Device Alarm (EDA)
- Load-test and Verify Alarms
